The Trap

I finally, FINALLY, took my car in this morning to get fixed up after my accident in August. Yeah. AUGUST. First people were refusing to give statements, then everyone was fighting over whose fault it was, but it was never MY fault, and I gave my statement, so I just waited patiently for my check, and now I get my damn car fixed.

So, I take Miss Marilyn to the auto body shop today, and get picked up by a cutie from the car rental company. As we're driving to get my loaner, we're chatting, and seriously within five or six sentences he just had to awkwardly drop in, "my wife blahblahblah..." Either to let me know, or remind himself, that he is married.

What, did it seem like I was trying to trap him with my insistence on being oh so nice?

It amuses me how guys assume any time you're remotely polite, you're flirting. I mean, I would have flirted, had the opportunity presented itself, but I had yet to flirt, and he had to go and shoehorn his wife into the convo, in a totally inorganic way, just to point out he had one.

Silly boys. It's like once they're taken, they think every vagina is a trap, a honey trap, built to entice, lure, tempt, taunt. Was it absolutely necessary to mention the wife? Could we not have had a nice, pleasant conversation, and parted amicably, without him having to mention his marriage license?

Apparently not.

I don't really have a point, except he was a well-trained husband.

Thought of the Day

It's comforting to know other people, people who you think seem so normal and secure in this world, so healthy and beautiful and strong in their bodies, have the same kinds of issues and insecurities you do. It's something I feel like people need to talk about more, how it's not always easy to just eat.

This is my thought of the day.

My Furry Admirers

I only rinsed off after last night's yoga practice, didn't wash my hair, had my alarm set for early, slept in my clothes, was all ready for a morning class.

Then this happened.

Guess someone had other ideas.

Considering I've now been out of town four weekends in a row, and will be gone three more, and he clearly has missed me considering he viciously bit me on the leg and drew blood yesterday, I decided to indulge him his cuddles.

Speaking of furry boys, my mom called me last night and said Mr. Deuce did not greet them in his usual excited fashion when they got home from their trip last night. He just stayed on my bed, pouting at my departure, sleeping with his head on my pillow.

All the boys love me. As long as they have four paws and a tail.

Buddy Yoga

I love having a partner in crime to go to yoga with, so any time one of my friends wants to try my studio I get so excited! (Plus, the fact that I get $5 added to my account whenever I bring someone to sign up for a free week doesn't hurt.) My college roomie is doing an internship near the studio and she wanted to try it out this past week, so she signed up last Tuesday and we practiced together that day, and tonight too.

Last week's class was HOT HOT HOT, I told her it was definitely one of the warmest I've had in awhile, where you can actually feel the air crawling over your skin. The flow got pretty complicated, like, turning from front to back to front again, which started to stress me out, so I'm sure it was even more confusing for a new person! She said she really liked the instructor though, one of the more hippie-ommm ones at the studio. And the music was awesome.

Tonight we went to one of the other more spiritually-focused teachers, and had a much better practice, in my opinion. I was really focused the whole class, and while I didn't feel that strong and took quite a few breaks, I left feeling energized and yet calm.

Also, you know what's more fun with a bud? Eating sushi. The Buff left her purse in Santa Barbara at her parents' house, so I picked it up for her this morning and as a thank you she bought me sushi tonight after class. It tasted better with a friend.

In The Moment Monday

April Foolin'

I will not be tricking you today.

You can all breath a sigh of relief.

I just kinda don't get this day.

I will occasionally get a little joy from scaring someone or something, but I just don't get that frisson of glee from tricking someone into believing something that's false.

Plus, I'm just super fucking gullible.

So this is not my holiday.

Unless we're pranking cats. Then it's hilarious.

Here, Buzzfeed organized a handy guide to all the pranks on the Internet, so you won't be taken in by all the tomfoolery.

This...should be real.

April Showers of Goals

HI APRIL NICE TO SEE YA.

I like April. It's no March, but it'll do.

I have goals.

1) Go to yoga sixteen times.
2) Go to double yoga twice.
3) Read three books.
4) Try four new recipes.
5) Write five hundred words of fiction.
6) Average six posts a day.
7) Keep to my budget.

Let's do this, April.

Foodie Pen Pals!

I learned about the Foodie Pen Pal exchange from Liz over at Vegging Out In Sac Town (Hi Liz!). Started by Lindsay over at the Lean Green Bean, the Foodie Pen Pal program is pretty awesome: you exchange food care packages with bloggers and blog readers all over the country. Lindsay pairs up all the participants, and you get a package from one person and send to another. SO FUN!

My package came from Carlisa over at Something Infinitely Interesting. Girl must be psychic, 'cause she sent me a box chock full of treats perfectly suited to my tastes, along with a cute card with an adorable cupcake!

One night while it was chilly, I tried some of the Starbucks marshmallow hot cocoa---SO DELICIOUS.

I've had some tasty Lemon Zinger to start off my mornings at the office, it's one of my very favorite kinds of tea!

Haven't indulged in the mac and cheese yet, but I know it'll be good. Who doesn't love mac and cheese, I mean really.
.
I also got some yummy salad mixings that were awesome, tasty granola snacks, perfect to keep in my desk drawer at work, and some fancy cappuccino toppings you can put on a variety of different stuff like ice cream and what not.

I've been meaning to try Buddy Fruit for weeks now, and lo and behold there it was in my box! I haven't tried it yet, but I can't wait to put it in a smoothie after a morning yoga class.

This program is so cool, and I'm so glad I participated! I had a blast shopping for my box, and getting my package in the mail was the highlight of my day. I definitely will participate again, but I'm going to wait until May when I can make sure I can get to the Farmer's Market to get some really special stuff!

Thank you so so so much to Carlisa for my amazing gifts, and thank you to Lindsay for setting up this awesome exchange! See the rest of the March pals here.
