"I'm in your grandpa's clothes..."
Buff is the one who recommended Macklemore to me a while back, she's been listening to him for years and now "Thrift Shop" is everywhere. I'll be honest, I didn't really like it the first few times I heard it, but it was everywhere this weekend and it totally grew on me.

Show Me Your Royal Teeth
In my new grand tradition of saying YES, I agreed to go to a concert at the Roxy last night with my coworker. The band we wanted to see didn't even go on until 10:30, which is pretty much my bedtime, so you can imagine what a huge effort this was for me.
Be proud.
Of course, I had tons of fun. Half the fun was just having an excuse to wear my leather leggings, of course but the other half was actually being at the show. A bunch of bands played throughout the course of the night, we saw Lakes (pretty awesome actually, and the lead singer was hot), Active Set (meh, not my taste at all and the lead singer had douchey hair), and Royal Teeth, who we were there to see.

So. Fucking. Amazing.
Seriously, they were an incredible live act, and a class act after the show when my friend and I fan-girled all over them. They had great chemistry, amazing voices, and beautiful songs. Apparently their (super charismatic) lead singer was sick, but you couldn't even tell. I highly recommend their EP, "Act Naturally", I bought it on iTunes on Wednesday and haven't stopped listening to it since.
Also, an incredibly attractive band. I would hit all of it, man or woman.
Check them out!

Pitch slapped.
Guys...I have an aca addiction.
As you know, I fell in love with "Pitch Perfect" when I saw it in theaters. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine perhaps not quite legally obtained a copy for me via the Internet. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched it since then, often choosing to view just the last half hour of so, starting with this little ditty right here.
The other night, I made my parents watch it with me...for an offensively high fee on DirectTV. Robbery. But I just had to watch it.
And now, I've bought the book (Kindle edition!) they based the movie on, "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory" by Mickey Rapkin, which is thoroughly entertaining. Funny, turns out the all-female group followed in the book is Divisi from University of Oregon, and a girl I knew in middle school was a member a few years ago. Now I want to stalk her on Facebook and be her friend.
Seriously. You need to rent this shit.
Unless you don't like joy.

Welcome to "Nashville"
Is anyone watching "Nashville"?
No, just me?
Okay then.
It's not great, but I see a lot of potential, and my love of Tami Taylor (aka Connie Britton, aka THE HAIR) will keep me watching for awhile longer. Though surprisingly, my favorite character and the one I think is the best written is Hayden Panettiere's Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood hybrid, Juliette Barnes. Rayna James, the character played by The Hair, hasn't been given a lot of layers yet. But she is absolutely still my idol.
Also, yes, there are a lot of cute boys. Plus, I love a TV show with music. And "Glee" sucks now. And "Smash" isn't back yet, though it also sucked.
So for now, I'm gettin' my country on.
I was totally entranced by this performance in the first episode. It's a Civil Wars cover, who I love desperately.
And check out this awesome girl power number.

"Diet Coke and a pizza, please..."
Warning: Cheesy goodness ahead.
This song was my jam for a few months, at a time when I needed to believe that my beauty or charisma or attractiveness was not dictated by my weight. I need to remind myself of that now, and remind all of you: you are fucking beautiful, no matter your size, shape, color, height, weight, face, stomach, nose, or hair. Beauty is innate, beauty is in your soul, and we are all beautiful.
I just watched this music video for the first time. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
"You take your girl and multiply her by four, now a whole lotta woman needs a whole lot moooore..."

Friday Music Cue
I confess I just watched every single episode of "One Tree Hill" on Netflix. I have exorbitant amounts of free time and zero taste, apparently. I'd seen up to season five or so when it was airing and felt the need to finish off the saga.
One thing I did enjoy about the show is the great music they used, and I'm currently obsessed with Wakey!Wakey! If you enjoyed Monday's music cue, check this out!

"I scream like a child, my insides went wild..."
One of my neighbors has the slightly irritating habit of coming home and finishing a song before they get out of their car. This isn't the world's worst neighborly behavior, but it bugs. A of all, they blast their music, and b of all, my apartment is suspended over the parking sports, and I leave my windows open. So...it's loud. It's really loud.
And annoying.
But at least they have great taste in tunes.
The first time I heard Rihanna's "We Found Love" was in this manner, at maybe eleven at night as I tried to fall asleep. It was kind of magical, actually. The other night, they arrived home at a much more reasonable hour, and from my couch I used the Shazam app to find out who was singing.
And now it's my new fave.
Thanks, obnoxious neighbor!

Favorite Songs: California Love
I love my state.
I love songs about my state.
I have a "California Dreaming" playlist on my iTunes that definitely gets a workout on days like today, when the sky is crystal clear, the sun is shining optimistically, and I'm not in a terrible mood.
Join me in beautiful California...

Songs for fall...
I want to put these songs on a playlist, curl up with some tea and a cozy blanket and a purring kitty, and maybe eat something pumpkin flavored.
Too bad it's still fucking 80 million degrees in LA.
Fuck you, global warming.
Hope you like!
"I Will Wait" by Mumford & Sons
-This song absolutely KILLS ME. When the chorus swells and his voice breaks slightly I just die of a musical orgasm.
"Fire" by Ingrid Michaelson
-Love me some Ingrid. I like the new album, sounds a lot like Sara Bareilles. I think they're buds.
"Ho Hey" by The Lumineers
-First heard this song in yoga and it just puts a goofy smile on my face.
"North Side Gal" by J.D. McPherson
-I just love this vibe. Makes me wanna boogie.

Friend Crush
There was a blonde in front of me in yoga the other day with, no joke, the hottest body I've ever seen in person. She was completely fit and toned, but soft and curvy. Strong but feminine, thin but clearly healthy. Basically, my ideal body type, and far far off goal.
I sort of felt lecherous staring at her, but she was right in front of me. Plus, her lululemon purple polka dot outfit was super cute. And her belly button was pierced. And at one point her hand bumped my foot, and we both apologized, and her voice was surprisingly deep and husky.
Basically what I'm telling you here is I totally developed a girl crush.
How can I make her my friend? I am equally as bad at meeting new friends as I am meeting men to make out with.
I need some suave friend pickup lines. Or I can just stalk her.

Songs of the moment...
I go through obsessive phases. With everything. I think we've discussed this before.
When I love a song, I love that song. I put it on repeat. It becomes my jam. I think it's talking about my life. I listen to nothing else for days. Then I move on.
For your listening pleasure, here are a few of my most recent auditory addictions.
"Kandi" by One EskimO
-This song makes me want to bang. Or cuddle. Or both.
"This Head I Hold" by Electric Guest
-This song makes me wanna dance around in my underwear like a fucking idiot.
"Never Go Back" by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
-This song makes me want to rock out and talk shit about boys. The new album is pretty fantastic.
"This Is The Beginning" by Boy
-This song makes me want to drive down the PCH with my windows down, with no where to go and nothing to do.
